MIN-AD is effectively utilized as a buffer and a source of calcium and magnesium proven to help enhance microbial efficiency and pH balance in the rumen environment. When used in conjunction with sodium bicarbonate MIN-AD improves microbial efficiency that can lead to:

MIN-AD is used in dairy rations as a buffer and source of Magnesium and Calcium. MIN-AD provides 61% - 75% more acid-consuming capacity than sodium-based buffers. Being acid-soluble, MIN-AD is available as rumen pH fluctuates, providing rapid buffering and longer-term pH maintenance in the rumen and lower gastrointestinal tract.

MIN-AD allows for the replacement of a portion of sodium bicarbonate and magnesium oxide in the diet, decreasing buffer supplement size and offering costs savings to the producer. When used in conjunction with sodium bicarbonate, research has shown an increase of up to 10% in microbial efficiency compared to a typical magnesium oxide (MgO) and sodium bicarbonate buffer packs. This combination and resulting ruminal efficiency, also produces a higher % of ruminally-degraded protein. Combining the fact that MIN-AD is DCAD neutral, and provides a highly bioavailable source of magenesium, makes it a perfect fit for dry cow rations.
